News Alert Class: Are You Waiting on The Lord?

Bro Stef’s Message on Exodus Chapter 32:

You know the story…Moses is called to the top of the mountain of the Lord for 40 days and nights and God writes with His finger the Ten Commandments on stone tablets. While Moses is communing with the Lord he is told, by God, to get down off the mountain because the people have sinned and are now worshipping a golden calf.  Before I go on allow me to make some simple, but powerful observations.

Observation 1: God wanted to enact judgment on the people, however, in His fore knowledge He gave Moses the desire to ask the Lord to hold back and not kill them out right. God was gracious and had mercy on the people, thus showing great love for Moses as the God appointed leader of the Children of Israel.

Observation 2: As Moses descended the mountain the only one who had not become corrupted was Joshua. I found it extremely encouraging that even though the masses were sinning, Joshua waited patiently for Moses, his leader to return and refrained from sin. Moses is a type of Christ in this story…

Observation 3: Joshua is an example of an obedient Child of God. Loving God so much, the last thing Joshua would want is to disappoint his God. Joshua didn’t know when the Master (Moses) would return, he therefore remained ready.

Observation 4: Aaron is an example of a Child of God that was tempted and gave into sin. Hence, disappointing his God.

As it is in this life we are tempted on a continual basis to turn from the Lord and follow after our flesh and thereby sin. The pressures of this life are non-stop and seem to become worse with each passing year. The distractions are numerous. However, just like with Joshua, the temptations of the moment are not an excuse to disobey God.

I found the relationship between Joshua and Moses to be a type (example) of our relationships with Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Moses went up into the mountain, Christ went up – into heaven. Just as Joshua waited patiently for Moses and did not sin, so we must wait patiently for the return of Christ. Just like Joshua, we wait at the bottom of the mountain (in the world, not of it) looking up and we can’t wait to see the sign that our beloved Messiah is returning.

Therefore, the imagery of Exodus 32 causes us to ask some very important questions and also requires us to examine our lives a bit more carefully.  As we wait on the Lord will we, as the Apostle Paul said, run the race well? Will we like a well trained athlete run past the finish line in obedience to God’s calling in our lives? Will we be excited and enthusiastic at the coming of Yeshua or will we, like Aaron, shrink in humiliation and shrink in our own disappointment with ourselves for not walking in obedience to our God. In other words, will we be ashamed at His coming?

After reading Exodus 32, the Holy Spirit fell on me and led me to examine myself, which led me to pray and ask God for His help with these issues. While the Spirit of God was speaking to my spirit, I became instantly aware of the sin in my life and those areas in my life I need help with, hence, I cried out to Him for His help even more!

Allow me in this letter to be a “Watchman” and sound the trumpet, the Lord is on the way…Allow me to encourage you, especially in light of the times we are living in and because the return of Christ is so close, the time to get ready is now! Please read Exodus 32 and examine your life and allow the Holy Spirit of God to speak to you and prepare you for His return! Yeshua loves us and died for you and me…Do it today – you’ll be glad you did!

I end with this; Are you waiting on the Lord?

Mark 13: 31-37:  Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming--in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!"
